In practice
Real examples. Real savings.
A more efficient business.
Automating a repetitive process.
Connecting systems that currently rely on manual intervention.
Simplifying an unnecessarily complicated workflow.
Replacing an expensive third-party service.
Improving existing architecture, consolidating software or reducing outsourcing.
Redesigning an operational process from the ground up.
Who you are working with
Automation Bureau is built on more than a decade of professional experience across software, infrastructure, cloud engineering and operational technology.
That experience was built inside large-scale technology environments - five years at DPDgroup, then five years at Experian, most recently working globally within Site Reliability Engineering, cloud and infrastructure - and behind it, a first-class degree in Computer Science.
That experience shapes how every project is approached - reliability, observability, monitoring, security, failure handling, scalability, performance, testing, maintainability, and what happens when something changes six months after a system goes live.
A system that works during a demonstration is very different from a system a business can depend on every day.
Real experience.
Real results.
The detail
Four questions we get asked before anyone commits to anything. Open the ones that matter to you.
As businesses grow, systems and processes grow with them. New software is introduced to solve individual problems. Different departments adopt different tools. Manual steps appear between systems. External providers are brought in to fill gaps. Reports are built around spreadsheets. Staff develop workarounds because the underlying process no longer fits the business.
A business can end up overspending across software, infrastructure, architecture, third-party services, outsourcing and internal resourcing without seeing where that cost accumulated - while valuable employees spend significant parts of the week on repetitive administration, manual checks, duplicated data entry, reporting, reconciliations and monitoring.
Most of it has been accepted as normal. A business may know a process is frustrating without knowing what it costs, or that its technology bill is rising without knowing which parts produce value. Those are the areas we investigate.
From there we identify what should be streamlined, integrated, automated, replaced, consolidated - or simply left alone. Sometimes the answer is automation. Sometimes integration, simplification, better monitoring, or redesigning the process entirely. The technology comes after understanding the problem.
Outsourcing earns its place when specialist expertise or extra capacity is genuinely needed. But businesses also outsource repetitive operational work simply because there has never been a practical alternative. Where that has changed we bring it back: lower recurring cost, shorter turnaround, better visibility, less dependency.
If outsourcing remains the better commercial option, we will say so.
Manual work introduces inconsistency as well as cost. Information copied incorrectly. A task forgotten. The wrong formula in a spreadsheet. A report built from an outdated file. A process carried out differently depending on who does it.
Automation runs repeatable work the same way every time, with validation, logging, monitoring and exception handling around it - and involves people where judgement is actually required.
Improving a business rarely means replacing its systems. Usually it means integrating platforms, removing manual steps, improving data flow, automating around legacy systems and consolidating tools that overlap. Where a replacement would be a real improvement we design and support that too.
Software changes, APIs change, volumes grow, processes evolve. For the systems we deliver, IT support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with monitoring, alerting, maintenance and response built around how important the service is and uptime commitments defined in the agreed support SLA.
Free, two minutes, no account
Eighteen one-tap questions about how your business actually works, and we write you a savings manifest: what manual work and outsourcing cost you now, what automating the repeatable part of it would save, what could come back in-house, what better lead flow could be worth, and where to start. Emailed to you as a PDF, with a time to talk if you want one.
Questions
We are IT automation specialists. We find the work in a business that is typed twice, waits on somebody, or is paid to an outside firm to do by hand, and we build and support the automation that removes it - every change costed, with a payback you can check.
The repeatable part of almost any process. Invoices and orders keyed in from PDFs or email, the same report rebuilt every week, data copied between two systems that do not talk, approvals chased by email before anything can move, spreadsheets reconciled line by line, and paperwork that waits in somebody's inbox. If a person follows the same steps each time, those steps can usually be done for them.
Start with the savings check: eighteen one-tap questions, about two minutes, and you get a costed manifest as a PDF. Or we look at how work actually moves through the business and come back with the same thing in more detail. Either way you get a number before you get a proposal.
Every change is costed on its own, with what it gives back and how long until it has paid for itself, and the plan is ordered by payback so the fastest return comes first. We say plainly which parts are not worth automating, because a consultancy that recommends everything is selling hours.
Usually not. Most of what we build sits between the systems you already have and moves the work between them, so nobody has to learn a new tool or migrate anything. Where a tool is genuinely costing more than it returns we will say so, but replacing it is a decision, not a prerequisite.
We support it round the clock. It tells you when it has run and when it needs a person, so nobody has to remember to check on it, and if something changes at your end - a supplier changes their invoice layout, a system gets updated - we fix it.
Nothing. It is eighteen one-tap questions, about two minutes, and no account. You get a savings manifest as a PDF: what manual work and outsourcing cost you now, what automating the repeatable part of it would save, and where to start.
Across the United Kingdom. The work is done remotely, with visits where a project needs them.
